Saint John, New Brunswick – The Resource Centre for Youth received a special gift today for the case management services it provides to over 100 youth. Canaport LNG announced a donation of $15,000 per year for the next three years to help the TRC continue to offer this valuable service to its teens.
Adolfo Azcarraga, Canaport LNG’s General Manager said: “The TRC is a great asset to the youth of our city through the many programs they offer, as well as being a major force to encourage education and self-development. Education and youth are two areas in which Canaport LNG focuses its efforts, and we feel that an investment into the development of our youth is a priority.”
June Breau-Nason, the TRC’s Executive Director said: “TRC is very appreciative of the generous support from Canaport LNG. With their help, TRC will continue to assist youth in Saint John and continue to provide a safe and encouraging environment that inspires youth to reach their full potential. On behalf of the youth in our community, a big thank you to Canaport LNG!”
The case management program is aimed at youth between the ages of 16 and 24. TRC Case Managers assist youth in the community who are facing many obstacles in their lives and work with schools and the community to ensure the youth's needs are met. Referrals are from teachers, guidance counsellors, social workers, parents and other agencies in the city.
The Case Managers work with youth and offer support on personal and family issues, help with education and employment concerns, and also provide guidance on health and addiction issues to in order to help choose a support option that works best for the individual. Approximately 28 to 30 youth per month use this service regularly and over 133 youth use these services intermittently throughout the year. The Case Managers have several tools at their disposal to help each youth with their unique situations.

Canaport LNG is a partnership between Repsol of Spain and Irving Oil. Situated in Saint John, New Brunswick, the terminal is capable of sending 1.2 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day. It is the first LNG regasification plant in Canada, sending out natural gas to markets in eastern Canada and the northeastern United States. Canaport LNG is majority-owned and managed by Repsol.
